# Tour de France is coming, there come the doping accusations!

Today, a quite interesting article in one of the Flemish newspapers. Apparantly, a LEGAL supplement, called ketones is taken by half of the peleton, but nobody wants to admit it, because of the scare of the public opinion. And I don't blame them.

It is in the cycling world a public secret that Team SKY and the British Olympic Team already used ketones in and before 2012, heading up to the Olympics in London. 
And the results for Team SKY and the British Olympic Team were, and that's an understatement, astonishing. 

Now, when it has become cheaper, other athletes start to use it, too. But what is it?

## Ketone Esters

Ketones are a by product of fat being burnt by our body... It has the specifications of a fuel for when every other fuel is lacking. It helps the body recuperate better, it saves muscle tissue of being used as a  fuel. And it feeds the brain for the necessary nutrients. So, we all have it in us to produce ketones, but only when all sugars are already burnt, and fat is starting to get used as fuel.
A perfect solution by the body to help itself in need.

Now a professor has been able to synthetically create these ketones in a lab and has brought them to the market with his patent. Under the brand name HVMN these products are now taken daily by cyclists, triathletes, runners, etc... And according to studies, they do have a significant effect. In one study the effect on (non-athletes) people with ketones compared with the placebo was a performance enhanced by 15 % after 3 weeks of intensive work-out. They recuperated better, slept better, performed better, and ate better...

A miracle product and not doping, but why does nobody admit they are using it?
