The Dead Sea is really dying

<p>The Dead Sea is shrinking and could disappear in a matter of decades, the doomsayers place its end approximately for the year 2050. This sea is the lowest enclave on the planet, 428 metres below sea level, it loses one metre a year because of climate change and the nearby industries that evaporate their water to extract precious minerals.</p>
<p>Environmentalists warn that saving the lake will require more trust and cooperation in the region.</p>

Thanks for sharing the article. The picture pretty much says it all. It would be terrible to lose such a unique environment due to climate change and abstraction/over use. The problem lies in not thinking in the long term.
