Sweet Pastries!

Hello all,

This weekend I have decided to give ***Krispy Kremes*** a miss as try some sweet pastries instead. Thought I need to give myself a break from the donuts as I think I have eaten so many lately, I think I am going to end up looking like one! I have for you today ***Cinnamon Bun*** and an ***Apricot & Custard Lattice***.

# Cinnamon Bun

This is a very fat bun. I love the look of the cinnamon swirl. The icing, not so much. It does look a little untidy. Looks wise, the icing needs to me thicker to make it look more attractive.

This looks a lot better on the inside than what it does on the outside. The bun is very doughy. It sticks to the roof of my mouth and it’s proving difficult to remove. Not attractive having to stick your finger in your mouth and remove it! The cinnamon flavour on the other hand is nice and it is distributed evenly through the swirl. The bun itself isn’t sweet at all. I love the flavour of cinnamon and I would have preferred a bit more sugar and spice. The soft cheese icing on the other hand is sweet. Tastes a little bit vanillery and u get the sourness of the cheese come through as well. The icing is sticky, but it does melt into the bun. The icing was my favourite part of the bun, just wish it was a little bit thicker. I can’t eat all of this bun though. It does come across as being boring.

We get two pastries in this pack! *Woo!* They do look deliciously sweet and packed full of apricot jam. I can’t see any custard though. Maybe it’s hidden on the inside. The drizzle of icing looks good on one pastry, a little messy on the other one though. *Yes, I know I’m picking holes, but I am a bit of a perfectionist!*

Hmm… not as much filling as I was expecting. I was comparing it to another apricot pastry from another supermarket and this one doesn’t come anywhere close. Ok, so we have the apricot jam. It has a good apricot fruity flavour. Some can taste synthetic, this one doesn’t. *I still can’t find any custard!!!* I actually pick apart the pastry. Firstly I remove the lattice, scrape off the jam to one side…. yep, still no custard! It’s nowhere to be found! Complete disappointment! I lick the icing to see if that was meant to have a custardy flavour… nope, not there. There is definitely some false advertising here. Either that or the baker needs a good kneading!

# Overall

Basically give these two a miss. Not impressed at all and I have a really sweet tooth! Next time I fancy a pastry, I will be off to the other supermarket for their apricot and almond slice! I know that is to die for. Never mind, I’m glad I’ve tried them. I’m off to get myself some ***Krispy Kremes***!!!
