Everybody has down times, at different points of their lives. Whoever came up with the saying, life is full of ups and downs got it all right. However, our ability to manage the low periods of our lives, determines how positive our outlook to life is. This further goes to determine how fast we rise from a place of loneliness, depression, boredom, failure and disappointment, to a place of success, fulfillment and accomplishment.

We must learn how to always help ourselves in times of gloom and adversity. There are times as  individuals, we are laid with such heavy loads that we find it difficult to talk about. In cases as this, instead of resorting to self condemnation or self harm, we can learn how to help ourselves until we can summon the courage to speak to someone.

**HOW ?**

*First we must be compassionate to ourselves*. 

Having compassion on one's self,  stems from deep within. This not only helps in periods of depression, it is a key step to overcoming feelings of worthlessness and sadness.

*We must not be idle*. 

An idle man's heart is prone to several wandering thoughts. Thoughts that are useful and not useful . We must plan each day and we must include as part of our daily activities, activities we love to engage in, as well as activities that can at least cheer us up.



*We  must never compare ourselves with anyone*. 

In recent times lots of people put up different acts, pictures, words and videos on social media to gain approval and appear influential and successful when in the real world they are struggling. We must never get carried away or let ourselves be affected by what other people put out for all to see. We must know deep down that everyone has their own hidden struggles.



*We must also reward ourselves for every effort we make and most importantly we must learn to be happy about our life*.
