It was October fifth in the year 1517. There was a small town surrounded by nature and rivers. It was a town that few knew of and even fewer lived in. Something amazing happened in this town. The Penly twins were born in the home of Mister and Missus Penly. At exactly 2:30 am the first cry filled the halls and not long after the second cry followed. Tears of joy filled the eyes of Mister Penly who was nothing more than a banker, and now; a father. His life felt complete and filled with wonder. He tightly held the hand of his wife who lay exhausted on their bed. Her eyes were also filled with tears and her heart felt warm.
Ten years had passed and the children lived a joyful life. Nikolai was a quiet boy who would much rather read than play outside, he had a book in his hand before he could walk. Blanche loved the outdoors, she made friends with all the garden critters and spent hours outside in their garden. When the twins turned sixteen they started having extremely vivid dreams that only got worse with time. Blanche began fearing sleep and stayed up as long as she possibly could before passing out from sheer exhaustion. Her dreams were filled with death and hatred so strong that she felt it pushing down on her. Every time someone died in her dreams it felt as though her heart was being ripped from her chest with a set of claws, the pain became unbearable and she became weaker. Nikolai's dreams were just as vivid but not as brutal. His dreams were filled with kindness and love. He witnessed only the good in the world, it didn't affect him like it affected his sister but he felt guilty for the pain she was going through. As they aged the dreams only got more and more intense and the more they would have these dreams the more they lost some of their humanity until they become only the shells of the children they once were. Their parents no longer recognized them and decided to bring in a doctor to get their children back. Day after day they were being poked and prodded and instead of fixing them it only pushed their humanity further back. One morning one of the nurses started getting Blanche ready to be tested when Blanche began so speak
"You will die in three weeks, on your way to the market. They will mug you and take your innocence from you before leaving you on the empty dirt road to rot" Her eyes were blank, and white as ice as she spoke. But once she woke from the trance she suddenly felt better. The pain had lessened and her mind felt lighter. The same could not be said for the nurse or her parents, to them it was apparent that nothing could be done for her so they chose to send them away.

The twins were sent to an institute where they spent years staring at the same walls day in and day out. They became an attraction to the people who wanted to know their futures. They were nothing more than fortune tellers. It was a dull life for the both of them but they also couldn't care even if they wanted to since their emotions died more and more with time. On their twenty-first birthday, a young man approached them and offered to set them free only so that they can be his personal oracles. They had no choice in the matter and went with him. He kept them in his large estate; they were allowed to roam everywhere, except off the estate grounds. It didn't take them long to realise that they had stopped ageing and their keeper didn't seem to be aging either. He didn't live with them but every night he came to the manner to hear their dreams. One night he acted differently than the nights before. His eyes were blood read and the veins below his eyes bulged out the blood that ran through them were clear and visible. His chin was covered in dried blood and his menacing smile filled his face. First he grabbed Nikolai by the collar of his shirt. He tried to fight himself loose but to no avail. Blanche tried to pull her brother back but instead was knocked back hitting her head on the corner of a table knocking her unconscious. She awoke to her brother groaning her name as he leaned over her.
"Brother" she said shocked "You're not dead"
"I was. In fact we both were"
"Are you certain?"
"I am"
"Are you ok?" She asked as she sat up to check him over. Two bite marks were apparent in his neck with two crusted blood lines running down them.
"What are we brother?"
"I do not know sister"
