Tomb rider estava prestes a ser um personagem masculino

Inicialmente, Tomb Raider deveria ser uma cópia do arqueólogo Indiana Jones. Mas a idéia foi rejeitada pelos líderes de Eidos e Gard concentrados em criar outro personagem. Então, depois de muitos pensamentos, ela decidiu usar um personagem feminino porque percebeu que seus colegas de trabalho preferiam escolher as mulheres no videogame SEGA: Virtua Fighter.

Do primeiro esboço quando uma mulher veio uma menina sul-americana chamada "Laura Cruz". Com o tempo, Cruz evoluiu para uma inglesa e seu nome mudou para "Lara Croft". O apelido de Croft escolheu olhando um guia de telefone inglês para que "soasse o mais amigável sobre a Inglaterra".

Tomb Raider foi vendido em 1996 para a PlayStation, Sega Saturn e PC, e desde então se tornou uma das sagas mais bem-sucedidas, que até mesmo foi levada ao grande ecrã por Angelina Jolie.
