Can anyone really know how you feel? - Musings #2
I get a lot of confusing feedback when I share part of my experience with hearing loss.

Some people say: Ok, I get it, is hard but don't let yourself be defined by that.
Other people say: I dunno what I would do in your shoes.
Others add: Maybe it's a blessing in disguise...

Can anyone really know more than their own experiences allows them to know? And if not, why should we even listen to others?

I feel that for me, hearing a lot of different take is helpful - or at least I thought it was helpful - because it allows me to get out of my own limited perspective. I am very implicated into my own problems, issues and I have a history of dealing with them so my solutions are just as big as I am and to some degree, as useless. What I mean is that if my questions still exists and have a lot of power over me it means that all I've done did not provide a "good" answer. So I ask around...

The problem is that the feedback is all over the place and it's making me even more confused at times. If my struggle is not legit then am I the creator of my own struggle and I am using hearing-issue as an excuse ( aka if it weren't this it would have been smth else? ).
If it is then what? Should I have better solutions? I feel that I should, cause being defeated b something is not a "solution".

I leave you with an advice from a friend:

>I don't know why you letting your "handicap" influence your life so hard. I can't imagine how it is, and of course I acknowledge the hurdles you have to jump because of it, but at the end of the day... the universe:**it doesn't give a fuck.**
You have to find yourself in midst of all your believes that "you can't make it & its very difficult & etc etc etc". Every person is unique, has its strengths & its weaknesses, but nothing counts more than the outcome - the raw product of your **Intellect & Experience.**
But, not in a 100000 years, am I believing that thats ALL you got. That you're completely cool with that or that you don't want to get out there and get what is yours to get.
Disability is natural. We must stop believing that disabilities keep a person from doing something. Because that’s not true... Having a disability doesn’t stop you from doing anything, it just opens a different path. We are all disabled in some way, be sure of that.

What do you think?
