The group stage of the 2018 UEFA Champions league season came to an interesting end on Wednesday night with no surprises in the final 16.

Manchester United missed the opportunity to go top of their group as they lost 2-1 to struggling Valencia after Juventus slipped to a shocking 2-1 defeat in the hands of Young Boys.

Real Madrid were hammered 3-0 by CSKA Moscow at the Bernabeu, their first loss at home in the group stage of the Champions League since 2009. 

This meant that the Russians did the double over the defending champions having won the reverse fixture 1-0. It was however not enough to see them to third spot to secure a place in the Europa League as Viktoria Plzen defeated Romania to claim that spot. 

Manchester City, although already through to the last 16 survived a late scare to secure a 2-1 victory over Hoffeinhem at the Etihad. 

Bayern Munchen also consolidated on their top spot despite crumbling late to draw their match against Ajax 3-3 with the Dutch side securing second spot in the same light. 

With the draw for the Champions League last 16 stage set to take place on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the headquarters of UEFA, below is a list of all 16 qualified teams.

**SEEDED shows the teams who won their groups while UNSEEDED are those who came second.**

The seeded teams will have the advantage of playing the second leg of the matches at home in March. 

Also important to note at this stage is that, teams from the same league would not be able to compete against each other. This means all four English teams, all three Spanish and German teams, all two French and Italian teams, will face neutral oppositions. 

Likewise, teams who qualified from the same group are ineligible to go against each other.
