John Kerry at the Trenton-Mercer Airport, New Jersey?

<p>The beauty of art is that anybody can interpret it the way they see fit. Our experiences, passions, mindsets and beliefs guarantee that we all experience looking at something differently than somebody else. Sometimes, our interpretations can be a little bit silly. Take, for instance, the Trenton-Mercer Airport in New Jersey. Most airports, <a href="https://steemit.com/art/@richristow/odd-statues-at-pudong-international-shanghai">like what I have seen in Pudong International in Shanghai many times</a>, have some sort of public art / sculpture. Trenton-Mercer is no different.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Trenton-Mercer is TINY. It services only two airlines: Allegiant and Frontier. The destinations from here are limited, too. A high percentage of the flights are to places in Florida, and I somewhat suspect -- without tangible proof, mind you -- that a lot of elderly, Jersey snowbirds migrate south from here seeking warmer weather during winter months. My father, for example, winters in The Sunshine State. &nbsp;The weirder thing is that, according to Wikipedia, is that this tiny terminal is third to Newark and Teeterboro in terms of traffic, but it is still busier than Atlantic City -- which is supposed to be a tourist destination. &nbsp;But then again, those stats were pulled from Wikipedia, so it's hard to say if it's dated and possibly incorrect. Still, it makes sense. Trenton is Jersey's capitol, and anybody wanting to fly in to glad-hand the governor, state legislators, and the staff members have to pass there here. Still, this airport is so tiny ...</p>

<p>... the arrivals sections is actually a door to what looks like a single-wide trailer. &nbsp;This is separate from the departure terminal. But, I digress. My lead sentence here was about art and interpreting it. The grounds this airport has some sculpture to look at while you waiting to pick up somebody -- say, my dad, about a year ago. I killed some time looking at stuff like this...</p>

<p>Yeah, abstract. But, my title mentions former Secretary of State John Kerry. How did I get to the former Massachusetts senator by looking at the above? I didn't. &nbsp;I thought about the former 2004 Democratic presidential nominee while looking at this bust...</p>

<p>Am I right? Am I wrong? Part of me thinks that the Trenton-Mercer sculpture is a semi-abstract depiction of a long face with bags. John Kerry does have a long and narrow face! With some &nbsp;bags! And pronounced creases! The overall contours of the bust, while exaggerated, seem to be similar. &nbsp;To be clear, I am NOT saying the sculpture is of Kerry. I am merely saying it reminded me of him. And, loose-and-somewhat-random associations always makes looking at art fun.&nbsp;</p>
