Beef with Broccoli

I first tasted the best beef with broccoli when my husband's bestfriend's wife served it to us when we visited them years ago. I was still a careerwoman back then and never did I imagine I'd be cooking food for my family. I gave her sincere compliments on her fantastic cooking and I'm not sure what got into me but I asked for the recipe. This dish was really simple amd easy to cook. I just made a slight modification to give it an @romeskie signature. 


#### Ingredients:

Beef 1/4 kg sliced into small rectangular pieces
Broccoli 
Onion
Garlic
Salt & pepper
Water

Normally, people would just use oyster sauce but then my husband doesn't like oyster sauce so I had to create a mixture of ingredients for him. I used to not listen to him when it comes to my choice of ingredients but then I figured he's my avid (and only) customer in the kitchen, why not give him what he wants. 

For the sauce: 
Soy sauce - about half a cup
Sugar - 2-3 tbsp (my husband has sweet tooth, likes everything sweet, just like me. 😅)
Cornstarch - 1-2 tbsp
Pepper
Water - about 1/4 cup

Just whisk everything in a bowl and that's it. 

#### Procedures: 
1. Sautee onions then garlic. 
2. Add in beef. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cover. Cook this on low fire for more than 30 minutes to make sure the meat is already tender. Add some water just so it doesn't get burned. 
3. Put in the broccoli. 
4. Lastly, add in the special sauce. Simmer for a few minutes and that's done.

In case you're wondering how much broccoli you should buy, my sister volunteered to take a photo of me holding the green bouquet. You may buy as much as that but you may buy twice as much.

You may also just use oyster sauce instead of that special sauce I made.
