If you google "Dandelion Root", you will find a huge number of sites describing the health benefits of this root and flower. The Dandelion is said to boost the immune system, and it is said to be a cure for prostate and lung cancer, among some other health benefits.

Some people see these plants as an unwanted weed. These days you however see large fields of dandelions as the plant's root and flowers are used in a number of natural medicines.

Continental tyres however came up with a new use for the Dandelion's roots, they use it to manufacture Taraxa GUM. This is used to make a natural rubber for tyres. The name is derived from the botanical name of the Dandelion, which is "**Taraxacum**".
The Continental WinterContact TS 850 R is made from this natural rubber. This is part of Continental's quest to make the manufacturing of tyres more sustainable and "green".

Adidas shoes now have rubber specially developed for them by Continental. These shoes have high levels of grip, this ensures that valuable energy is not wasted on slipping. It is claimed that this extra grip can boost a runner's performance substantially.
