The effect of the bad will be felt immediately because it will generate emotions such as anger, sadness, frustration, feeling of hopelessness and so on. The effect will linger on until the mind is mastered and the person comes to terms with it. What about a sudden spring of happiness? Then too, the person will feel the surge of emotions such as happiness, pride, elation, joy and the feeling of being special. This too is bad because it will end up making you egoistic. ## The mantra for being calm and composed - equanimous always is to always remember that 'whatever happens is for my good'. This will help you maintain your composure in times of good and bad.  Life is always full of happiness and sadness and so, it is important to remember that life is a picture as in a jigsaw puzzle and the pieces are joined to make complete sense later on. You may not understand why such and such an event took place now but twenty years later, it will make complete sense. Always remember that victory is not everything in life. Exams and grades matter but it is not the end-all. If your lover ditches you or betrays you, it is not the end. Remember you are a free soul always and the decision to do what you want is always within your grasp.
