My visit to Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development.

Just a few days ago I've visited **Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development** (*BARD*). It is first and main branch of BARD. It's situated in **Koatbari, Cumilla** ( near the Cumilla Cantonment). It's one of the popular and famous places of Cumilla. The BARD was built in 27May, 1959. Which means It's almost 60 years old. It was built by ***D. Akhter Hamid Khan*** (15 july 1914 - 09 October 1999). It is one of the biggest NGO office of Bangladesh. You can't visit the whole area once by walking. It's the first govt. NGO. There is everything in the area that any person need to lead their lives. The place if full of lot of trees. Most of them are fruit trees and flower trees. Theres almost 66 thousands of trees. The roads are so smoth and clean. No extra noise, no pollution, no distrub. It’s feels liks I'm in a short haven. Anywhere you'll look you’ll only see green trees and flowers. They have everything in it. Like as, Hospital, Auditorium, Cafeteria, Park, Play Ground, 1st Class Quarters, 4 Hills, Own Power Plant, Own Water Supply, A Govt. Bank Branch, More than 100 security guards and a lot. The aim of *Akhter Hamid Khan* was to develop our villages and make the people modern. That's why he built the BARD. There are three training centre for training. They have took the challenge to make Cumilla a model city. And they are on the way of their success. They are known for Imolementing the Cumilla as a model. And it has been recognised internationally as a **MODEL PROJECT** in 1960's. It's really a proud for the people of Cumilla.
