The Space In Between

It’s 3am. Sleep interrupted by a clamoring in the kitchen. My mind soon soothed realizing it’s only my son coming home from work. I bury back into the covers to rest, but for hours then I lie there in the space in between. The transitory phase...not really asleep nor awake.

So to in life. At times I long to be there, but I am here. Other times I think maybe to stay here, but I am headed there. Pushing or pulling to move forward or go back. That’s me. Smack in the middle of the in between.

Sometimes that space between awake and asleep is the best place to be. When you're asleep you don't really know it, so mentally it's pretty hard to enjoy it. 

When you're pseudo awake you can still curl up in a ball and feel cozy and warm under the sheets and really appreciate the time. But I admit the clamoring in the kitchen can kinda spoil things.

Hey, great to see you! Exquisite photo 😍

For my "mental state", I like that space in between. Even get into a similar state during painting, justto suddenly "wake up" and wonder how time went by like that.

There was a time in my life, when I constantly went back and forth between two homes.. one in the US and one here in Germany. After some 10 years I got so tired of it that I always just wanted to stay where I was, either here or there didn't matter, just stay in one place. Today I'm happy it turned out to be here... 😉
