# Cecil the lion's killer has had his charges dropped in a Zimbabwean court

For people who are unaware of who Cecile The Lion is, he was a male South West African Lion who resided mainly in the Hwange National Park In Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe.

This lion was one of the major attractions to this reserve, bringing in cash flow that helped support the lively hood of the park.

# Then things changed

An American Trophy hunter by the name of Walter Palmer came to Zimbabwe to hunt  Cecil.

This post has nothing to do with Trophy hunters, and if they are good or bad ( I'll save that for another post). The problem arose when Walter Palmer hired two Zim Nationals to lure Cecil out of his home in Hwange, and proceeded to shoot the lion with a Bow and Arrow and left to bleed to death. This is considered illegal and not a professional hunt. 

[Mr Palmer's charges were dropped in October 2015](http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/africa/walter-palmer-cecil-the-lion-killer-will-not-face-charges-because-papers-in-order-a6690886.html)  because his papers were in order to hunt. 

The fact was that Cecil was protected, and the guides ignored this and proceeded to kill him in the least humane way possible.

# Unfortunately, the guide that was facing charges has now been cleared 

Theo Bronkhorst, the guide who organised the trip has been cleared of all criminal charges 
> His lawyers successfully argued that the charge of "failing to prevent an illegal hunt" was too vague to answer and although he had breached National Parks regulations this did not amount to a criminal offence
