Nicolas Gessner did a brilliant job directing The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane. This movie kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I seldom see such creepy movies which do not cross the line nor use cheap tricks to satisfy the viewers. The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane is a subtle mystery thriller and fans of slow and scary movies should watch it tonight! If you liked *Misery*, I guarantee you that you'll like this one as well.

Also, Jodie Foster (Rynn) and Martin Sheen (Frank Hallet) were magnificent in this movie, making it so much better. After all, this movie was mainly about their wrong and one-sided relationship, which Rynn tried to avoid all by herself.

<h1>Plot</h1>

It is one of those movies which you don't need to know much about before watching as it is not about the story but the characters. It's basically like my life... the only difference is that characters in my life are also boring.

Rynn, a strange 13-year-old girl, lives alone in a remote house in a Quebec small town. She pretends that her father is living with her, but whenever someone asks to meet her father, Rynn never let it happen. She is also hiding some more secrets, which reveals as the movie goes on.

Not to mention that living alone is super dangerous for a 13-year-old girl, there is also a pedophile, Frank Hallet, in a neighborhood, who wants to have a deeper relationship with Rynn. Naturally, Rynn tries to avoid bumping into Frank for as long as possible, but it is a hard task because Frank knows where Rynn lives... and he also knows that she is alone.

Nicolas Gessner picks a perfect soundtrack and decorations to build a very mysterious and creepy mood throughout the movie. There are some minor characters introduced later on, who make the viewers feel even more helpless about the whole situation.

By the end of the movie, when all the cards are on the table, Rynn and Frank Hallet meets alone for a final battle. It is live or die situation for Rynn, so he doesn't hesitate to use her coldblooded nature to get rid of Frank Hallet. However, Frank is also a smart man, so it all comes to little details.

<h1> My thoughts </h1>

1. In my eyes, pedophiles are the biggest criminals, who should receive a maximum penalty for their crimes. Seeing how Frank Hallet tried to seduce little Rynn made me sick to my guts, and I once again understood that a man could do many things, which I could forgive, but hurting a kid is not one of them.

2. People (all of them) have their secret lives. Yup, you can go down by the street, point to a stranger, and be sure that he/she is hiding something. Take it even further - you can be friends with someone forever and never know their true colors. And I guess it is just human's nature to have secrets. 

3. People don't want to know shit about others' secret lives. And let's not pretend here... we have enough of our problems without digging deeper into someone else's secret lives. That is why Rynn tried to live alone and fix all of her problems on her own... at the age of 13. It is a pretty sad situation, but who said that life must be a comedy all the time?

4. And yet, humans are too weak to fight entirely on their own. They need help, and sooner or later they seek for the help. 

5. No action is good or wrong by its nature. Even murdering can sometimes be a right thing to do. I just wish that no one of us would have to face situations in which murdering someone is the only way to survive.

6. Jodie Foster is a real talent. At times I couldn't tell if Jodie was acting or she was actually Rynn. And she did it by the age of 13... No wonder why this woman won 2 Oscars. The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane is already worth watching because of Jodie's performance. Ironically, Jodie Foster hated this role.

7. When people are pushed out of their comfortable lives and thrown into a surviving game, they learn how to survive. Even if it is weak 13-year-old girls, we are talking about. After all, the strongest instinct of them all is not to die.

8. Never drink from your enemy's cup. You can never know when it is tea and when it is poison.
