I think that there is a point that saving money is not worth the expense.

What I mean is this, saving a couple of dollars a week from the coffee you enjoy. Whether it is because you like the business, or the baraista, or you can't make the same coffee at home doesn't REALLY matter in the long run.

I like to focus on the big things. What is going to change your income or expenses by 5% a month (that's just a number I pulled out of my rear) and what can you do to change **that** number? For example, you are probably paying for your bank account, an hour today could save you $15 a month for life, that's 3 nice coffees.

If you work for a business for a while, asking for a raise could increase your revenue by 5%, moving companies could change it by 25%.

When I go out to grab a coffee, the coffee has more value to me than the $5 I spent on it. I get to see people that I don't always see, chat with the one making the coffee and support a local business. That makes me happy.

Another way to look at it is this, you can only cut your expenses so far, and if you are already frugal its really not going to help you a lot. What will help you is to earn more! There is no limit on how much you can earn.

So rather than saying a dollar saved is worth more than a dollar spent, I would say a dollar earned is worth more than both, because its something you didn't have before.
