Steem - Price, Rumors and Could We Be Stabilizing?

Is Steem starting to stabilize?

It's not much, but it does appear that we are stabilizing a bit from a price perspective. At the time of this post .15 usd and gently climbing. We remained pretty stable through Bitcoin's latest drop.

I'm so used to sideways and down. When my husband asks me about the Steem Price I just say, sideways and down. :)

Also it seems the user base and activity has been stable for a while also.

I'm not saying we will not continue to fall a bit, because I think we will struggle with demand until we get some attention or create a marketing campaign. However, it would be nice to find a nice stable place to languish at. :)

# My vision is still:
DPOS is a distribution model, just as POW is a way to get BTC into people's hands
-The more people who agree Steem holds value the more valuable it becomes.
-We pay Authors, Witnesses and Devs instead of miners.
-We should use those rewards to gather people on Steem
-Where people are gathered others come to sell them things.
-Tell them stories, - Authors
-Provide them with news - Journalists
-Preach at them - You know who you are
-Build games and services for them - Splinterlands and Drugwars
-Launch products for them and an economy develops
(the network effect)

The first round of attention we received came from Price action and being new, the next one will likely need to be generated.

The community is where our value is. That is who plays the games, buys the Tee Shirts, Reads and writes the posts, onboards and trains their friends.

If we are stabilizing the next step would be to try to begin building again.

Steem will not add value to itself. We know SteemIt Inc. doesn't have a marketing budget.

Oh, and regarding the rumor about Justin Sun, it is still out there. I have now seen it 3 times each from a different source and with a different angle.

Could still be a rumor, but who knows.

I've been taking a bit of a break from most posting, but after the holidays I will be around a bit more.

I remain optimistic about Steem. We have a good platform that very few people know about. If we could raise awareness we might get somewhere. It will never be perfect. We will have trolls and those who just try to game the system, but we have ways to deal with them. A rising price helps encourage activity, but we need a shift in use numbers to maintain that.

I agree lots will move to SMTs. Some of the good ones at 1:1 swap with no changes to distribution or other parameters because they are good. Others will move and do a little 'reset' because they need to try again because try one failed due to poor management and moderation.

It's pretty obvious that some tokens will have more value per token than Steem since several of the stable tokens (ex/ BTCP or EOSP) already do. With the added assurance of SMT, those may actually become more popular and have more than ~100USD volume per day. I think you mean some may have more overall value than the market cap of Steem or at least all Steem Power. EOS (while still ERC20) and a few others sized up well against Ethereum. If I had to guess it will be social networking like a video or streaming service first, then maybe something like a consumer points system.

The critical mass will definitely be in the people who see the value and build now while it is cheap. 

It will be tough to have a short term dramatic increase in the price because the inflation of steem supply is so high right now. I am a bit concerned over the slow and steady organic growth of new people being counteracted by the similar rate of new steem printing and stinc monthly sell off 

We are either going to be richly rewarded or end up sitting on a near worthless stack by the end of this. Either way, it is fun and educational to be blogging and curating sounds there is no way we can lose!

Wow. If I'm reading the Sun article correctly, it's saying Steemit Inc is a done deal. As in, he already acquired it, as opposed to he's looking into it or there's talks taking place.

Surely someone has to know if this has happened or not. Anyone tried asking someone at Steemit to comment? It would be good to know how they respond. :)

I hate to jinx it, but I'm cautiously hopeful that the bottom of Steem price is in and the start of a slow increase to the next bear market is looking optimistic. Not saying it's going exponential from here, but it would be nice to see some sideways and a little bit of up price action for once.
