I transplant 3 times due to my small grow room, which is 18 inches by 24 inches. I start off in solo cups, then transplant to 8inch pots, then to their final home 3 gallon pots. I used to use smart pots, but I got tired of water leaking from the sides, and they dried out to quickly. There great but have their downsides.

I don't have a problem with them drying out too quick in the 5's and 7's. My humidity usually sits at 40-50% with a temp of just below 30 in my flower room. All variables that could effect performance. You're transplanting anyway, definitely give the mycorhizea a try... you won't look back! (Might not work so well with chemical fertilizers.)
