I suppose Festivus is too well known now for me to claim it. Hmm... probably some Japanese tradition I can talk about. Let me think. Will return to this if I remember later ;)

When we were kids, I remember my mom would put a rose in glass of water, and on midnight of December 25, all the members of our family should take a sip. 😅

I think my weirdest Christmas tradition is actually my dads.... every year he opens a package on Christmas Day that HE GOT FOR HIMSELF. He wraps it an everything lol ! The first time he did this hes like “OMG look its a chainsaw!!!” And meanwhile the rest of the family just looks at each like wtf is he talking about? No one got him a chainsaw. It took a few years for us to catch on  and he does this EVERY year. BRILLIANT!!!

Hola @coruscate, hay muchas tradiciones navideñas, que se comparten en familia, todavía seguimos manteniendo la ilusión de la llegada del niño jesus (en Venezuela), se le dice así, a las doce de la noche del 24 de diciembre se lleva los niños al parque, les colocamos los regalos corriendo, apagamos la luz, y cuando suben y ven el árbol lleno todos corren a tomar sus regalos,  es una tradición que todavía conservamos para los mas pequeños.

Eating Christmas dinner twice within a couple hours of each other with the same people.  Which is a tradition that has been carried on down many generations. 

You have your normal meal you know the one you stuff yourself fuller then the turkey was with stuffing. You don’t put away your plates of silverware. All the food is packed up for 2 hours and then it’s all reheated. You eat dinner again. I’m not sure who started it. 

Anyone who has joined the table has often said that was kind of strange but  they are not saying no to more great food. A few hours after that you get to have pie. 

I think the side of the family that does it really struggled at one point in the family tree long before I was  even born. I think Christmas might be one of the only times they really went all out for even as something basic like food. I just know buying a “small” size turkey is not something that will be permitted. it has to be BIG even if it’s not all going get eaten. After that you eat turkey for about a week. Till you swear you never want have turkey again.

 It gets put into everything from breakfast omelets, what is called “slop” (the not so great parts that are left over it is cooked until very tender in the gravy and poured out onto bread), sandwiches, and where ever they can hid it! Because its always way to much food.

We have Eid-ul-Fitr just after Ramadan(Lunatic Calender) and We celebrate it with breakfast as a little sweet dush. and then we say prayer and sacrifice animals(cow/goat/camel) and then distribute it among the people who cannot afford to celebrate. Also help people to get new clothes so that they can equally take part in the happiness of Eid-ul-fitr. :)

Not too many crazy traditions here. 

One I'm glad we <b>don't</b> have is drinking warm eggnog out of grandpas fuzzy slipper. :)

My family didn't really have and weird ones but my wife and her family kind of do. So this is now one I have.  On Christmas eve they get together and eat sandwiches.  Along with hot spiced cider.  With a little something extra if you are old enough and want it.  It is a very relaxed get together. For me that was weird cause Christmas dinners were always pretty formal.

weird. We did the exact same thing. My family was very religious as well (so much so that when a church closed down, they rescued all the statues of the Saints and we had them sprinkled around our back yard, basement and in nooks and crannies in hallways..)

We did the birthday cake, read the story of Jesus's birth and sang happy birthday..

So we're a pretty big family with over 60 cousins right and so we would all play secret santa and pick a name on my dads birthday since its the last big birthday before xmas, on 18 Nov. 

But since its all about secracy and there are so many names its hard to keep track if each one a name that wasn't there name, since you're supposed to put it back, but lets face it, we're kids and we're not going to let an opportunity to be funny pass us by. 

So every now and then a few of the cousins would draw there own name and keep quiet about it and get themselves a killer prezzie (since you're not supposed to spend more than $20) and gift it to themselves. 

Once year my cousin took it a bit overboard and bought himself an XBOX and wrote from Kurt Angle (WWE wrestler) to Kurt lol we all burst out laughing when they were handing out the gifts, ah good times!

Nothing really crazy, except the overfeeding. 

There's the customary rice and chicken 

Then some people eat cassava flakes with vegetables for strength or Otis lol

I don't have weird Christmas tradition except good one especially buying presents and/or exchanging presents.

Yours is super cool to me. Like literally sing a birthday song to Jesus... Is special. 

But we have weird Chinese New Year tradition. During the first day, we must not sweep the floor eventhough it is dirty because then we will sweep away all the luck. Also we will hang the word "blessings" in Chinese character upside down. People believe then the blessing will drop down in the house. Hahaha.

I am also a big lover of Christmas! I grew up in Chicago, which feels like the capiltal of Christmas for me. My dad was Mr. Christmas and that is probably where my love for the holiday has come from. Now i think Christmas here in America is kinda gross and disgusting. At the same time, some of the things i hate about Christmas, are the same very things I love. I know I am weird and can always see both side of the coin. So flip that coin and let it land! I have many traditions i live and go by when it comes to Christmas! but my favorite tradition and the weirdest, is MY CHRISTMAS MOVIE REVIEW, RANK, AND BLOG titled THE SEARCH OF THE PERFECT LSD CHRISTMAS.
For the last 10 years, from THANKS GIVING to CHRISTMAS, i will allow myself to only watch CHRISTMAS MOVIES! Halmak, Lifetime, The classics, and any and every strange twisted good/bad off beat CHRISTMAS film i can find. in the last 4 years, I have started to review them. Hi @coruscate! I am from Venezuela and my Weirdest Christmas tradition is going outside my home at midnight 31 Dec with my suitcase  hoping I will be able to travel abroad during the next year hahaha :) 

When i was little we had a couple of christmas without a christmas tree and on the 25th in the morning we had to look for our gifts that were hidden all over the house, sometimes they spent days to find them all. Lol

Yeah, that's pretty weird. I don't have any real traditions, but because my mother's family became a Jehovah's Witness when she was 13, she made sure that we had birthday presents and Christmases, so the tradition is to go to her place on Christmas Day. In Australia, Christmas is in the Summer, so it can be hot and this can lead to a very different feel at Christmas time. We keep a lot of the British traditions, the tree, ham / turkey / chicken and pudding for dessert and maybe a dip in the backyard swimming pool. Lots and lots of alcohol can be consumed as well.

Happy beginning of the Christmas friend, good every country has its tradition.

In Venezuela is to drink a lot with the family eating the most traditional "Hallacas"

Fun little engagement, I would have to say, um - does dressing up like Santa and filling stockings count?

When we were poor student my siblings and I didn't have much cash. As a result our gifts were cheap and crappy. As time passed the crappy cheap gift became a bit of a challenge. Who can find the funniest present for under five dollars. 
The tacky didn't stop there. We would meet at our mother's house. Instead of your typical Christmas tree she would bring in a piece of fallen eucalyptus tree (Australia), which looks pretty much like a stick. A little bit like nature's festavus pole, decorated with tinsel. Here is this year's, I'm not kidding, it's a stick. _Don't ask me why it is in a fish tank, I have no idea._

She also has a scary mannequin that she dresses up in a Santa suit. It is like a haunted oversized frightening elf on a shelf. She moves it around her home. This year she is planning to take it out around town and take it's picture at landmarks. My 4 yr old is scared of it, she puts it away when he comes over. 😂😳💀🎅😱

No really a tradition, but something worth to me.
Each time the 25th me and my sister get off the beds, we were filmed as going towards the main floor and the Christmas Tree. I've the collection of me from really early till now (and still doing this) and weirdly it has some nice feeling.

Aside that, I love to play table games and board games during Christmas or just spent times with the people that matter the most in my life, given that I'm living the college student abroad life.
