Japan and Uzbekistan are scheduled to play their  <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_AFC_Asian_Cup">2019 AFC Asian Cup</a> group F game on 2019-01-17. Japan opened their group play with a 3-2 win over Turkmenistan then continued with a 1-0 win over Oman. Uzbekistan defeated Oman by a single goal in their 1st group game then scored a 4-0 win over Turkmenistan. Both teams have clinched a spot in the knockout rounds and will be playing for seeding. Uzbekistan holds the goal differential tiebreaker and will only need a draw to claim 1st place in the group. The last time these nations played each other in 2015 Japan won 5-1.
