Romantic phases of my life that didn’t seem romantic at the time, are all dolled up as memories. Dear Diary, I’m rambling. I took a walk tonight, with Big Dog at my side. The humidity was gone, and some of the haze over the mind as of late. It is so easy to forget that happiness is sitting right there where I left it. I had let my shadow fall across it, again. The ups and downs of figures on a laboratory report mean something, but not everything. A perturbed thyroid can cast shadows that linger in the back of the mind, but they don’t hold a candle to the free will. The mind chooses—to suck in that breath of air taut and constricted, or to breathe deep and slow. Just have to stay in the light. Things happen that force growth, when comfortably stagnant. Decades creep past, bringing changes in mentality and perception. The era of baby-making is done. Now for the new era of motherhood maintenance, wherein I continue my role, but my body is mine again.
