10 Mile Hike, Alone, In Utah *GORGEOUS PHOTOS!*

My life has changed quite a bit over the last few months. I've been more willing to do the things I've been holding back on for one reason or another. 
I am more focused than ever on getting closer to my long term goals.

*It's funny, I was too nervous to post that selfie on Facebook, But I felt comfortable with the Steemit community to post it here! Hahha*

As you know, I don't own a car. For me to get to the base of the mountain in Utah. I have to sit on a bus for an hour, Then once I'm at the bottom of the canyon, It's a 1.5-mile walk up to it, to the nearest hiking trail. It sucks, But that is the only way I can hike for the moment.

Today my goal was to go further. I wanted to see more of the mountain. It's funny I always have a goal to hike all day, But after about 6 miles or so, I start to get exhausted. I don't exactly know much about survival in the middle of nowhere, So I better be at least somewhat careful.

After getting up the rough part of the trail, I had to deal with lots of random people Luckily I turned right, and most people turned left. So I was free to enjoy the trail totally alone.

It was gorgeous...
I never wanted to stop, And total. I went 10 miles at least. 
What made me sad is when I started getting exhausted I came to a cool area with a river. It had three different directions I could go in. I wanted so badly to pick a trail and keep going. But I was so worn down. Knowing I had to hike all the way back, Then down the 1.5-mile canyon is always a bit disappointing! This is why I need to get in better shape. So I can go even further!

Wow that looks like a really nice walk.

I saw a video the other day that said muscle fatigue is a mental construct - your muscles don't actually get tired, you just think they do.

I tried thinking about that while running a 30km run the other day, and you know what?
It's true! I got to the end and my legs weren't tired!

Try that on your next hike. Eat well, drink lots and keep a steady pace, and enjoy the day. Don't worry about the 1.5 miles at the end. that's just there for you to spend a few moments remembering the beautiful scenery you've just been through.

Shows you what I know (not!)-- I tend to mostly think of Utah as part of the desert southwest, which tell you I'm only familiar with the bits along I-70 and the 191 down towards Moab and beyond...
