So long as the proper pay offs are made to the municipal mafia, other than upkeep, my lodgings are free. Add to that an upstairs apartment and it gives me an income. Once we get the garden finished out back it will allow me a place to produce food to eat. In my provence I have free medical. There is no telling how many millions my cancer surgery of 6 years ago would have cost me in another jurisdiction. Certainly enough to cost me my home that is owned and paid for.  My home *is* my freedom.
