according to the Principle Of Correspondence, environment and the individual are mirrors of one another. so yes taking responsibility is all there is. I just wrote a blog about this but that cannot -- and never will -- excuse that the dumbing down does exist for real. Follow the money, as usual. Most religions regard usury as a capital sin. Debt slavery is as old as mankind... and the policy makers enjoying their kickbacks for pedaling the mantra that deficits support the economy. The most abject and immoral is going into debt for wars, why are world citizens not told this in elementary school? And now world govs are pouring billions of $ into AI weaponry... well, this will have dire consequences. Meanwhile many think that AI will bring abundance. 

There is a metaphysical war out there... very real, mirrored by the environment and each individual.

Well.  I have the utmost respect , and growing emgrossment in, Buddhism. And I agree with trying to drop the dualistic mindset. And in that vein I would say that what "government" does to us is true and it is also true that we do things to ourselves.  There is a conspiracy, but not everyone is a fully willing player, and even those who are willing players are still human (as hard as that can be to accept at times).  Not either or. Both. That is nondulism. Besides, do you really know that anything truly exists outside of being a mental formation? (if you really want to go down that rabbit hole I'm strange in that I would enjoy that conversation 😂)

But becoming always engulfed in negative judgment is self defeating.  That is why I try to limit my time exposed to politics and news, and I avoid most major media as I find it to be harmful to myself. 

It is better to focus on the positive.  And even where there is negative I do think it is more productive to look for common ground and common humanity and try to work with things as they are as much as reasonably possible - although it is getting more and more unreasonable - let's not delude ourselves about that either.

Man, I love this post!
I felt the same way about few things over my life, but at the end, the concept of subjective reality always kicks in and I start to analyse what I believe in. Right now I actually think you should believe in what could be productive and positive for you, some of the ideas of self-help could fit in that category but there are few things I cant accept (like anything metaphysical). 

You should check my [last post](https://steemit.com/life/@paps/take-back-the-control-over-your-thinking-reframing), where I talk about reframing beliefs. I think you will like it, just try not to categorize it as self help right away :)

I agree that it's part of a perfectly unfolding bigger picture. And I believe it's necessary to swing one side to the other before finding the happy place. I think there's danger, though, in denying the truths lying within those conspiracy theories, and I think that's what you were getting at there at the end. It's crucial, in my mind, that we continue to be aware that the mainstream media is absolutely feeding people fluff at best, outright lies regularly. Should people be more discerning? Of course. That's why those of us aware have to speak up. Modern education was founded specifically for the purpose of dumbing down. Dewey knew the world needed factory workers who would respond to bells and orders. He knew also he needed kids out of the way so more adults could work. He was open about it. Did that darkness create some brilliant minds devising ways to learn differently, alas to actually just nurture learning that already happens? Absolutely. Check out the Sudbury Valley School and schools like it all around the world. The original founder left a tenured professor job at Columbia to start it. Do vaccines kill and injure people? Absolutely they do. Has that spawned an effort to make them more safe and effective? No. Not really because everyone dismisses those of us who believe that as crazy conspiracy theorists. But someday it will. So, while I agree there is ultimate perfection under the unfolding, I think a dismissive attitude towards those evolving ideas as conspiracy theories is maybe not helpful. I think you're right that many just discovering these things see others as the enemy or stupid or whatever, and that's surely not helpful either. It's important to understand everyone is where they're at and just stay focused on the positives of the world we're creating. Sorry if this is scattered. Kids are batshit right now.

So, I'm gon'na cheat and beef up a comment I posted very late last night.

*Amigo, I know I am preaching to the choir when it comes to you. So, please indulge me.  The following is for the benefit of our fellow Steemians, ok?*

...Linear thinking keeps people unaware that every measure of any lame, man-made scale of so-called discreet, progressive perceptions/grades/ratings - when taken to its logical end point - will eventually make a full circle.

I wonder how many people would feel better about themselves if they knew that everyone always "does that for which they are rewarded"?

Is that selfish?

Before you answer that...

What if I told you that both Mother Theresa and every despot in history (e.g., both Khans, Stalin, Hitler, etc.) got some kind of self-gratification when they did whatever they truly thought was "the right thing to do"?

You see, even benevolence and sadism will make that circle and meet each other.

Confused? Don't be.

Can't decide what to do? Don't sweat it?

In other words, just do what you truly believe is right and don't get neurotic over it - even if there's a chance you may be wrong.

Why?

Because it's too easy to fall prey to "analysis paralysis"; falsely believing that you must (or can) know *everything* beforehand.

This will surely keep you on the sidelines, while you watch others act on their version of your idea; leaving you with a burning urge to engage in an extended session of self-flagellation, no?

Besides, if you thought what you are currently doing is "right", but sadly mistaken, believe me, the whole universe will tell you - in spades!

So relax.

Why don't you look - I mean really look - at the beautiful, "snapshots of duality" that sourrounds us - that are, in reality, perpetual cycles with no beginnnings and no end.

Why don't you journey inward and see how everything will end at the beginning, and so it goes...

Here is something shorter but holds many the same conclusions:

These are the 3 questions every child is confronted with. First they pop out of the womb into a bright and loud place that they know nothing about, and one they can’t even perceive accurately.  As they look around examining where they are they stumble into their body, maybe a hand or foot in their mouth that they for the first time recognize as a “self” separate from the experienced universe.  If they gather enough information and make an accurate analysis of these first 2 questions they can come to an accurate conclusion on the 3ed question: “What Am I Suppose to “BE” doing here?”  Unfortunately society and traditions seek to confound the first 2 questions thereby making an accurate assessment of the 3ed nearly impossible for the average person on the planet.

So, with this in mind lets analyses this self, this perception of “I-AM” and see if we can’t arrive at an accurate answer.

**Where “Am-I”?**

This one is not what one might think is the “common sense” answer, say “on Earth in the Milky Way with the Local Group in the Universe at large.  No, all that is just evidence as to where you really are.  Where one really “IS”, is inside “Mind”.  We are the “Experiencer”, we are the “I-AM” that is having the experience.  This is a non-physical thing, outside of “space-time” as can be proven by the fact that the experiencer is always in the “Now”, the ongoing Eternal (outside of time) wow that is NOW. If one wants to look for further proof of this it is found in Quantum Physics and was shown in the early 1900’s with the “Dual-Slit Experiment”.

This experiment clearly shows that particles ONLY exist as “physical matter” when they interact with something else (when 2 things are “aware” of each other and interact).  When these so called particles are not interacting with an “other” they exist only as “waves of potential states”, from which one state is collapsed upon when there is an interaction. 

So, the answer to “Where Am-I?” is that you are INSIDE of MIND,,,, which answers the 2nd question:

**What “Am-I”?**

What we are is the “Experiencer”. We are what is “awake” and having the experience of our body, or of driving our car or whatever experience you can think of or have.  Some might be tempted to jump to the conclusion that this is their “personal Soul”, but lets analyses that further.  The “Act of Consciousness” or the act of being awake or the act of having an experience is not a noun, it is a verb.  That means, as we already figured out, that “you” are not a physical thing (noun) you are an action that is happening (a verb).  So ask yourself the question, what is the source of the action?  There is ONE act of Consciousness that everything is taking part in, from the sub-atomic particles (as in the dual slit experiment) to plants, animals and you and I.  Who Am I? = there is “No I”, there is only the Act of Consciousness which the whole “physical universe” is being experienced in. This act of consciousness is the creator of the physical universe inside of Mind and therefore is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent the 3 most described aspects of “God”. So in conclusion, there is no “I”, there is only “I-AM” (aka God).  In Buddhism this is what a Buddha understands, that his consciousness is not his own but is in fact Buddha Consciousness.

So, to the important question:

**What Am-I suppose to be doing here?**

Well, if there is no me, and there is only the Creator, and the Creator gifts “experiencing the Universe” to every sub-part without condition (aka Unconditional gift of Love)  even if the sub-part is a child molester or a murder or Illuminati/Vatican/Zionist scumbag, then it becomes clear.  In the Christian metaphor Satan wants to sit on the Throne of God.  That throne of course is CONSCIOUSNESS and Satan therefor is one’s EGO, ones concept of “Self”, one’s memories and understandings and predictions of reality that inevitably foul things up from their potential equilibrium.  When we believe we are our name or our body we can not answer this question correctly.  What are you suppose to be doing? You are suppose to be doing what GOD would do if God were in your position, because that is exactly the truth, and to be in denial of that is the source of the lie, the source of evil, the deception from the “ego” Great Deceiver (aka Satan).

Be present in the NOW, look in front of you and spread Love and Compassion on all that passes your way.
