Wow, you ALWAYS do this, you think you are above all criticism!

No wait, not like this. But I wouldn't say it's only about the one being criticized, as how the criticism is delivered always has an effect on how it is taken. We can learn even from bad criticism, but it's so much easier from well formed criticism. Criticism in a bad form can seem like it is not even criticism but pointless whining without a good reason OR the issue criticized might be misunderstood.

You should always be open for criticism in your criticizing skills ;)

as replied down below, imagine reading a scientific journal and coming across information that contradicts your held beliefs. This is criticism too but is rarely met with rage or depression. 

Yes, the delivery method can affect but, my question is: should it? Especially if there is value in the new information obtained.

It should affect, because it helps us remember even in criticism: good manners and being polite will never do any harm.

This is why rarely on scientific journals the new information, conflicting with the old information, is presented as "YOU OTHER SCIENCE FOLKS FUCKING SUCK, DICKHEADS!" but are presented in a proper manner.
