I like your analysis of this matchup, as I don't watch every NFL MNF game but have been watching more this season I agree with a lot of what you wrote. The future is going to be promising for the Texas Tech, Washington State, Mike Leach, 'system QBs' ......it will also tend to give smaller players a chance in my opinion as well. Guys that are like hybrid running back / wide receiver types that can run the reverse / end around type plays and also throw out of the backfield or take a rare snap at QB. Right now it seems running backs will be less valuable if the game does indeed move more into this throw every down realm.

QBs need to be mobile, it seems, but some super-mobile ones in the past have not proven to be good pocket passers. I'd rather have someone who can hit a receiver than someone who can scramble, but if he can do both, that's even better.

I agree with you, I'd rather have a guy that can throw the deep ball than scramble honestly. But having both makes you almost unstoppable to defend. But if last week is any indication which is better, we're correct, Goff stays in the pocket mostly but did have at least one big scramble for a first down. Also, we should consider that running around like Lamar Jackson isn't going to suit your program well for longterm success, they normally get injured and the Mike Vicks of the world never got a ring. Interesting situation.
