Steemit needs more journalists?!? Well, we have an odd way of showing it. I've seen them come and go for more than one reason. I doubt many of them are looking to make big bucks, mostly they want to increase their readership. so, how many read articles posted here? I doubt the numbers often go above what a bird can count (if I recall correctly, that is up to six). Isn't that why the counter that told us how many visitors we've had was removed? It disheartened too many posters... But, to add insult to injury...I see them getting flagged because their original article was also posted on their own blog (they even say so in their article). Others just flag because they do not agree with their opinion. On Steemit, debate is not how differences are dealt with, we have posters like bloom who openly state they are here only to flag those whose opinion they do not like (don't beleive me? Then check his comments section). I would say we would do far better to desperately hope journalists do not come to Steemit (or any of the tribes) as they could do even more damage by spreading the word of just how bad things are here. By the way, I do practice what I preach. Every day I upvote from 5 to 15 posters, usually the small rep posters, especially if I think they have been flagged without reason. But, at the same time, I permanently keep my account frozen - all posts and comments are set at Decline Payout. All I want is to place my books on the blockchain, otherwise I do not want to join any community of flaggers. You want to bring about a change? Then propose that posters who never post should not be allowed to flag others. No post today (or the last 3 days)? Then no right to flag. Also, cheetah and others refuse to accept messages unless it is done on discord. Why? I thought I had signed up on Steemit...I never intended and do not intend to be on discord. So, it means I cannot even try to help those being downvoted. Another stupid rule is, if you are not the one being downvoted, you are not allowed to communicate the reason why they are in the wrong. In other words, make it as easy as possible to harm posters and make it as hard as possible to get justice. Sort of reminds me of the days of the USSR (or China, now).

I am generally against imposing more rules on Steem. Who gets to decide what accounts are allowed to do? The system we have is more a mix of anarchy and rampant capitalism where the rich have the power. I do work with SFR to deal with blatant abuse of the system and that can work. I do not downvote for difference of opinion, but people are free to do that. That can drive some away, but do we want to compromise the freedom? I want to see all sorts of people here. I do read articles and I value those who actually read and comment on mine even if we disagree.

Content creators (journalists in this case), can come here if they want. The important thing is the people that follow them over. It's the same idea as bringing companies/businesses over to use features of the chain (i.e. free transactions). Businesses don't need to create content here. By virtue of their presence, hopefully their consumer-base would follow. It's dumb as hell when people continually say "we need to onboard the masses". No, we don't. We onboard people who can bring the masses because they have a following. Importing a "Pewdiepie" is infinitely more valuable than having several Jerry Banfields who bring in questionable characters. Similarly, having egomaniacs like @rogerkver will never do Steem any good. They are not interested in telling others about this chain.

I agree. We need the pioneers with a following elsewhere. If some big Youtuber says they are only going to post on DTube or 3Speak then they can migrate a lot of followers who will then discover other content here. I am about to write a post on this topic. Just sharpening my quill.

Take it easy on Roger. He took enough freedom that his got taken. Being unafraid to be free is the greatest virtue in a slave world.
