The biggest thing i see missing here is the image server. The images aren't on the STEEM blockchain. I remember way back when we were hosting photos on other photo hosting sites. And a couple people launched image hosting servers. And now its all in steemit. All those image locations in the steem blockchain point to something that could disappear at any moment.

A very good question with a very easy answer. For future posts, just host your pictures on a free place like tumbler.com, google drive etc. and then type the link to the image in your posts. Sadly, the images from past posts may be lost. No one said this proposed forking of the chain would be easy. We must do what we can to help those *fronting* the finances and technical expertise to put forward a solution to the current SNAFU. Sure, it is not as easy as just uploading your images to SteemIt.com, but those pictures are kept on an AWS server anyway at great cost. We must all do our part even if it may be a little inconvenient. *Ask not what the blockchain can do for you, ask what you can do for the blockchain!*
