We were in Penang, an island city which is the North West part of Malaysia, for the past 5 days on got home yesterday evening. We had some really good food and company which I'll be sharing on my next few ulogs. This was the day we arrived and we got a treat from a friend of ours which we met during her college years. She's now happily married with a growing family of 2 kids.  We went to a place just opposite our hotel and had some amazing Northern Indian cuisine, my absolute favorite cuisine in the world. I ordered rice on banana leaf and my was it amazing. Although the vegetables were a little below temp for my liking, it was delicious. The balance of spices were all perfect and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Look at my face smiling face above... haha  *(my rice on banana leaf with 3 vegetables, rasam, and papodoms!)* The *'rasam'* was exceptionally good of which I haven't had a superb one for a long time until that night. It had those sour notes and the spices weren't overpowering. Really well balanced and an appetizing palate cleanser. I also order *'Mutton Vindaloo'* which was the best thing of the night for me. I never really tried *vindaloo* before except the one which I cook that I thought wasn't really what it's suppose to taste like. Now that I've eaten such a good one, I know *exactly* how a vindaloo should taste like. *'Vindaloo'* is basically a garam masala base dish with vinegar. This one was super peppery and just a hint of sourness at the back. Really delicious!!!  *(mutton vindaloo)* For a drink I had a cup of masala tea and this one was packed with spices and had a little heat as well. I'm guessing a little chilli was put into this mix with the tea. Very interesting taste but I prefer mine not chilli spicy.  *(masala tea)* It was a good night with friends and family accompanied by no other way Malaysians do it, with food. The best news was that I had a conversation with the waiter of the night and he told me that they have a branch in Kuala Lumpur where I'm from.
