Vlog 233: Steem thoughts

SMT's will create many new communities on the STEEM blockchain.

But I'm wondering what that will mean for steemit.

We are mining the main token here. That will drive all other tokens (bandwidth).

STEEM will be extremely valuable if everything works out.

But before new communities can be built we still have to wait for HF20 and HF21.

In the SMT telegram channel, Ned said that SMT's will come out this year.

I think the mining effort for STEEM will harder before we get there.

I talk about it more in my vlog.

Well talking about SMTs ,I am hoping it comes out soon . It is going to change the face of blockchain and I am happy that change will be anchored by Steem blockchain but I really don't know what to expect. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

That was a really interesting colection of thoughts and has left me wondering if I need to rethink my strategy. At the moment I'm full on blogging here haven taken heed of your message that earning will get harder and harder.

Someone was recommending investing in bid bots to me yesterday to get fast er exposure. I've only looked at them from the point of making a positive return which seems to no longer be the place so had dismissed them. Not sure how I'd get the extra exposure though as I don't write in a specific niche. Anyway, something to think about.

I have a couple of questions:

Even if Steemit collapses Steem could stil be a good investment, right?

If Steemit collapses woudl you still be a witness?

I know i am biased since I help out on the discord but check out smartsteem... they are quite good since they balance the commerial with the ethical.  
everyone can sell their spare voting power but only whitelisted can buy and spammers/copy-pasters are blacklisted
and in my opinion steemit / busy and the other writing platforms will stay but they might not be as important as before.

@exyle I just know that a year from now most people who get on STEEMIT and earn some STEEM will be very Happy. Those that are consistent and produce content and comment everyday will be the Big Winners. I know lots of people come here and get discouraged, all I can say is don't get discouraged know that you will need to go through "The GRIND" just like Mark did or anyone else that has been on STEEMIT for any amount of time. From my own experience I can tell you that .10 and .25 posts don't seem worth it but it does get much better the more you stick to it and build relationships............

Interesting point about Steemit evolving into less of a blogging platform over time with the roll out of the SMTs. In many ways, I think the ability to pitch Steemit as "the place you get paid to blog" is very valuable. It helps to create a critical mass of users, attract people away from Facebook/YouTube and build value for the Steem blockchain. Will be interesting to see how things develop...

I guess, one "mistake" you are making is to equal Steemit as a blogging platform with social media.
As I wrote also in my article yesterday, this is a huge difference regarding the marketing.
The way I see it, Steemit is solely a blogging platform for content creators and not a social media site. In the future with apps like Appics etc. there will also be the possibility to get rewarded for posting and interacting with "daily life stuff", but at the moment, I don't see this casual daily stuff being rewarded by people spending their valuable VP. Again, you may be an exception with your evening food/casual posts, but I don't see much social media stuff here, that is rewarded and simply because this is a blogging platform and not Facebook!

If SMT’s come even close to being as big as you think they might be, the demand for Steem tokens could be massive. Any person/company that employs them on anything more than a limited basis will *need* Steem Power for their bandwidth. Going forward the Steem inflation rate will be less than 9% annually, and dropping. Growth in demand for SP could *far* outpace the growth in its supply.

Right now, it’s *relatively* easy to acquire SP. But that could change fast if SMT’s take off.

We're excited about the SMTs as we know there are lots of entrepreneurs out there and already in here in Steemit that could benefit from this. We came on Steemit to blog, so it will be sad if this testing site ends up being shelved. Yet, for now we will enjoy the ride. Nothing lasts forever, so enjoy it whilst you can :)
