The World offers Loneliness, God offers Community

Later tonight my wife and I will host 5-10 members of our church, we will share a meal, discuss life and pray together. This is what we call a "community group", it brings me great joy each week, and I am thankful that God has created this opportunity.

Man's greatest calling is to be used by God
=
In 2019 so many people live in isolation, we eat microwave meals for one, choosing online empty connections over in-person conversation, and so unsurprisingly we die of loneliness.

God intends mankind for more than this, and it starts with community. Yes, community within the Church but even more than that, because just once a week on Sunday is not God's plan for you. God calls us to share His light and shine love into a dark lonely, fallen world. How are we meeting that call?

Our once a week community group is so simple, but powerful beyond words. Why? Because God uses man to shine His light and do His work, if we come humbly under His will and walk together in community. Conversations over dinner can be powerful. They can change attitudes, and re-direct lives. Why? Because iron sharpens iron. That is why I am excited for tonight.

Find Community: Be changed and be change
=
If you lack community in your life, if you sit alone, filled with anxiety, overwhelmed by the world, then hear now, God has more for you. God has community that He means you to walk within, and so be changed for His glory and your greatest good. That should excite you, to know that God means for you to find that. You are loved more than you know, so much so God does not mean for you to stagnate, but grow and even flourish, and that will not happen in isolation.

God uses our relationships and community meetings to grow us in His ways and this truth is a testament to his loving grace. God brings broken vessels together, our lives filled with struggles and suffering, doubts and failure, and despite our imperfection makes more of us through the process.

The world cares not for your well being, but God cares. That is why he demands we walk together through the darkness, so that we might live and live abundantly, in accordance with His ways, and for our greatest good.

In God's fullness, He needs nothing to right the wrongs and bring His perfect will. He uses mankind, and the Church, because He loves us, and desires to involve His beloved children in the work of His own heart: salvation. He is sufficient, but yet God uses broken people, walking together, in His name, to work His plan and bring His kingdom.

Like a loving father God invites us to participate in the work and plans He has laid out. He gives to each of us a task and minor though it may seem, holy that work is.

Thank you Lord for using us. Thank you for giving us community, so that we might hold one another up as we stumble and struggle. Thank you that you stir in each of us a calling to be used for your Kingdom, and I pray that we hear and follow that call today.

Truly family, friends and food are good gifts from you Lord, meant for our sanctification and your Glory, may we live in that reality, honoring your mission and Kingdom as we meet, eat and talk.

As always, thank you all for your time and attention. I pray that you have an amazing day, filled with good food, good people and God honoring conversation. God bless you and yours.
