U.S. President Donald Trump's doctors say he is recovering from the new coronavirus after receiving a mixture of regeneron, but what does this drug contain?

The drug, which is co-produced by New York-based Rigineron, is in the third and final phase of clinical trials.

It was an experimental combination of antibodies.

The U.S. Federal Food and Drug Administration has not yet approved the drug for most Coved-19 patients in hospitals.

But Trump received the drug under what is known as 'compassionate use'.

Effectiveness of the drug
The main question that revolves around this drug is: Is it really effective? Doctors who have conducted clinical trials on treatment in Colorado are working hard to answer this question.

But Trump's recovery, if complete, is an answer for many that the drug is working.

Dr. Thomas Campbell, a medical pathologist at the University of Colorado Medical University, leads clinical trials to determine the ability of the regeneron combination.


The drug has a scientific name, "Regen-Cove 2", and it is an expensive treatment for Dr. Thomas, who oversees clinical trials in Colorado with the support of Regeneron to understand and monitor drug safety and efficacy.

The initial results of this drug were announced in late September, days before Trump's infection was announced, and the results seemed promising.

But the effectiveness of the drug will remain an open question, according to Dr. Thomas, whose studies are currently focusing on testing the performance of treatment on patients whose condition requires admission to hospitals and staying in hospitals for more than a day, and among those whose condition does not require staying in the hospital.

The Regen-Cove 2 treatment contains two types of antibodies called monoclonal antibodies.

And these bodies are defined, according to the Mayo Clinic website, as laboratory-manufactured molecules to act as alternative antibodies that can restore, enhance or mimic the immune system's attacks on the aggressive cells that attack the body.

They are designed to bind with antigens, which are generally found more often on the surface of aggressive cells than on normal cells

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said that he felt himself as if he was "Superman" after taking one of the drugs he was treating against "Covid-19".

Trump emphasized, moreover, that he has so far developed immunity, which does not pose a threat to others in terms of transmitting Corona virus infection.

The American president recounted that the doctors told him that he had immunity, adding, "I can get off the stage and start kissing everyone. I will accept everyone, men and women."
