### My wife and the kids were out today visiting friends so I decided to spend my Sunday at the Dash Conference here in London.

The event was literally a 10 minute drive from where I live, it was a last minute decision to go but I thought seeing as Dash (Darkcoin at the time) was the very first cryptocurrency I'd got into, it was only right to go and see what was occurring with the coin now. 

An aside, I was buying Darkcoin when it first launched in the beginning of 2014. I remember one time meeting some guy in a warehouse in Limehome (East London) about buying his mining rig, for the sole purpose of buying Dash. I remember he was going to sell it to me for a couple of thousand quid. I didn't get it in the end. Had I taken that money and invested in Darkcoin and continued investing solely in that (through it's transition to Dash), I'd be typing this blog post from a beach in Malibu without a care in the world! Hindsight is a wonderful thing...

Anyone, fate conspired for me to be in The Oval in Hackney listening to the Dash Team preach all things Dash this Sunday..

I threw together a quick video to summarise my thoughts:

Would have been nice to have seen some Steemian at the event however I did bump into @crypt0, @boxmining and @sile from Youtube. I even the guy from Etoro that always pops up in YouTube ads!

@nanzo-scoop  - Hindsight is truly a wonderful thing that makes us kick ourselves in the pants!!  I am kicking myself for not paying attention to Steemit last year and not finding out what this Bitcoin stuff was all about back in 2010!

I loved the 'raw and honest' account of the Dash conference.  I enjoyed seeing, in the video how much you enjoyed making the video.  You were really laughing hard when you described the lunch!  Cool.

I doubt whether the technology in and of itself can. More marketing and merchant adoption will help, however enough to generate a critical mass of users? I still don't see the compelling use case, from a user perspective. 

I like Dash's governance however it's become to rigid. I was shocked to hear it now cost 5 Dash (over $1500!) to just submit a proposal, that's craziness to me! It discourages smaller scale outreach initiatives imo. That's the problem when only those at the top of the food chain get to decide what initiatives have value, they can only assess a limited amount of proposals.

I still think Steem is on a better track in terms of having a way regular people can earn cryptocurrency and anyone can post about an initiative leaving for the community to decide it's worth.

I think many of us missed the boat when it comes to investing in cryptocurrencies. I heard about bitcoin a loooooong time ago, but didn't see it as concerning someone other than someone in the finance world, or some kind of an investor! I like what you have to say about compelling use cases, but I do think Dash is the best promoter of it's own dogfood so far, except for maybe Ether.
