### Sahara Club

Actually, I had planned this agenda in advance, even before last week's [Free Iftar Meal Distribution](https://steemit.com/hive-103393/@naufal/act-of-kindness-distribution-free-iftar-meals-to-100-train-passengers-who-are-fasting-or-50-to-steem-amal). There is a writing community in my city, Pariaman. His name is Sanggar Bahasa & Sastra Klub Sahara (Language & Literature Community Club of Sahara). Its founder is a talented young woman who has a myriad of accomplishments and awards. Currently, he holds the title **"West Sumatra Reading Ambassador".**

His name is @Dhyan. Previously we had known and made friends through a Hijrah community in Pariaman. Last week I contacted her to discuss my plans to share experiences and tell about Steemit to her community. She founded a literary community called Club Sahara which has about 75 members, most of them are high school kids and some college students.

Seeing this opportunity, I am very interested in introducing Steemit to members of the Sahara Club. Given that their age is a very productive age and are passionate about writing. I say that because these younger siblings are selected people who were selected to enter the Sahara Club, and were directly coached by the West Sumatra Reading Ambassador. They are certainly not just anyone.

That's why I really want them to feel the benefits of Steemit. Because I believe they can certainly grow and develop in Steemit because they have the main capital, skills, and hobbies in the field of writing.

### Introducing Steemit Mini-Workshop

After discussing briefly with Dhyan, we talked about the plan of activity and the mechanism. Finally, it was agreed that we would hold the event on Monday, May 3, 2021, the evening after the Asar prayer.

Initially, I planned to do it in a closed room, so that participants can focus on the stamp that I will convey. But due to schedule and time adjustments, I just followed through with their decisions. Because most of them are still students and need permission from their parents.

Finally, there is a Mini-Workshop held at a Cafe. I have prepared the InFocus projector to display the material that I will deliver, but for some reason, the connection can't be connected, in the end, I just drop my laptop on the table in front of them. And I continued to deliver the material with my phone.

The number of participants who attended was as many as 20 people. 15 women and 5 men. I was assisted by @goresanpenaanfal to prepare for this event to direct participants and help document the event.

I only delivered material about what blockchain is and how it works, introduction to cryptocurrency, and introduction to Steemit. In short, it only took about 15 minutes for me to explain and then continued with a QnA session.

Then I said that due to limited time and this is also "something new" for them to know, so maybe only about 20-30% that they can catch and they understand. Just imagine that none of the participants know what blockchain, cryptocurrency is. and there are only 2 people who know what Bitcoin is. Waw.

I'm sure I will have a lot of homework if they join forces and work on Steemit. But that's okay because the main purpose of this activity was to invite them to join and start writing.

However, because at that time the Steemit registration system was not good, so every new account registration was hampered by the cellphone number which was always "Phone Invalid" making them not register at that time. Yet if there are no problems, 20 people will register for Steemit that afternoon.

But that's okay, I've reported this to the Steemit Team and it's being followed up by them

I solved this problem by creating a WhatsApp group, where participants who were present were included in a group and I would follow up online. So I think it will be more flexible to discuss and ask questions about Steemit.

Thus the PromoSteem activity this time, I will update the progress of this activity in the next post.

### Klub Sahara

Sebenarnya agenda ini sudah saya rencanakan jauh-jauh hari, bahkan sebelum kegaitan pembagian Takjil gratis minggu lalu. Ada sebuah komunitas menulis di kota saya, Pariaman. Namanya Sanggar Bahasa & Sastra Klub Sahara (Sanggar Bahasa & Sastra Klub Sahara). Pendirinya adalah seorang wanita muda berbakat yang memiliki segudang prestasi dan penghargaan. Saat ini dia menyandang gelar "Duta Baca Sumatera Barat".

Namanya Kak [@Dhyan](https://www.instagram.com/dhiyanmz/). Sebelumnya kami sudah kenal dan berteman lewat suatu komunitas Hijrah di Pariaman. Minggu lalu saya menghubungi beliau untuk membahas rencana saya untuk berbagi pengalaman dan menceritakan tentang Steemit ke komunitas binaannya. Beliau mendirikan sebuah komunitas sastra yang bernama Klub Sahara yang memiliki anggota sekitar 75 orang, kebanyakan dari mereka adalah anak-anak SMA dan beberapa mahasiswa.

Melihat peluang ini, saya sangat tertarik untuk memperkenalkan Steemit kepada adik-adik di Klub Sahara. Mengingat diusia mereka adalah usia yang sangat produktif dan sedang semangat-semangatnya menulis. Saya katakan demikian karena adik-adik ini adalah orang-orang terpilih yang diseleksi untuk masuk Klub Sahara dan dibina langsung oleh Duta Baca Sumatera Barat. Mereka tentu bukan orang-orang sembarangan. 

Maka dari itu saya sangat ingin sekali mereka merasakaan manfaat dari Steemit. Karena saya yakin mereka pasti bisa tumbuh dan berkembang di Steemit, karena mereka punya modal utama tersebut, skill dan hobi dibidang menulis.

### Mini-Workshop Introducing Steemit

Setelah berdiskusi sebentar dengan Kak Dhyan, kami membicarakan soal rencana kegaitan dan mekanismenya, Akhirnya disepakatilah kami akan mengadakan acara tersebut pada hari Senin, tanggal 3 Mei 2021, sore hari setelah Salat Asar.

Awalnya saya berencana untuk melakukannya di dalam ruangan tertutup, sehingga peserta bisa fokus dengna materai yang akan saya sampaikan. Tetapi karena penyesuaian jadwal dan waktu, saya hanya mengikut saja dengan keputusan mereka. Karena sebagaian besar mereka adalah masih pelajar dan butuh izin dari orang tua mereka.

Akhirnya, jadilah Mini-Workshop yang diadakan disebuah Cafe. Saya sudah mempersiapkan proyektor inFocus untuk menampilkan materi yang akan saya sampaikan, namun entah kenapa koneksinya tidak bisa tersambung, akhirnya saya hanya mengarahkan laptop saya saja kedepan mereka. Dan saya lanjut menyampaikan materi yang ada di laptop.

Jumlah peserta yang hadir adalah sebanyak 20 orang. 15 perempuan dan 5 orang laki-laki. Saya dibantu @goresanpenaanfal untuk mempersiapkan acara ini untuk mengarahkan peserta dan membantu dokumentasi acara.

Saya hanya menyampaikan materi tentang apa itu blockchain dan bagaimana cara kerjanya, pengenalan cryptocurrency dan perkenalan tentang Steemit. Singkat saja, hanya memakan waktu sekitar 15 menit untuk saya menjelaskan dan selajutnya dilanjutkan dengan sesi tanya jawab.

Kemudian saya sampaikan bahwa karena waktu yang terbatas dan ini juga merupakan "sesuatu yang baru" untuk mereka ketahui, jadi mungkin hanya sekitar 20-30% saja yang bisa mereka tangkap dan mereka mengerti.  Bayangkan saja dari keseluruhan peserta tidak ada yang tau apa itu blockchain, cryptocurrency. dan hanya ada 2 orang yang pertah tau apa itu Bitcoin.

Saya yakin saya akan memiliki banyak PR jika mereka bergabung dan menekuni Steemit. Tapi tidak apa-apa, karena memang tujuan awal kegiatan ini adalah memang mengajak mereka bergabung. 

Namun karena saat itu sistem pendaftaran steemit sedang tidak baik, sehingga setiap pendaftaran akun baru terkendala dengna nomor hp yang selalu "Phone Invalid" membuat mereka tidak jadi mendaftar saat itu. Padahal kalau tidak ada masalah, 20 orang akan mendaftar Steemit sore itu.

Masalah ini saya atasi dengan membuat sebuah Grup WhatsApp, dimana peserta yang hadir saat itu dimasukkan dlam sebuah grup dan akan saya lakukan follow up secara daring. Sehingga akan lebih fleksibel saya rasa untuk berdiskusi dan tanya jawab tentang Steemit.
