@slowwalker, Gang Wha Do Island very inspiration place to be spiritual life. There were some  scared faces beam of Dae Wung Jeon Building. Shoes seems peoples come to to visit this temple.  The corner stones very oldest. The colorful lanterns very impressive scenery to me. Hall also looking grateful. Brilliant photo clicks.

Wow I like those lanterns infront of the hall. Yeah like you said, those faces looks scary and similar type of tradition at my country call as "Wes Muhunu", that used to flush away bad spirits! So, in different ways we both traditions are using the same basics!

Those scared faces seems to be like a mythical creature with elongated too, wow I haven't seen anything as scary as that, the truth is that I'm wondering if these scar faces are demons since they're meant to protect the temple, what amazinhy shots they're well-done expecially the last shots you took

I've always been fascinated with the use of grotesque images of animals to ward off evil spirits.

It's quite common in the western world to see these representations on the walls of churches and cathedrals, normally sacred places, but not immune to evil influences.

Oftentimes, the grotesques would serve a useful purpose as water spouts to channel water away from the main structure and then they would be considered gargoyles - but your images are under the eaves and their use is mainly symbolic and somewhat anthropomorphic.

A feature of architecture that sounds a cautionary note, the eternal presence of evil alongside good - an image of a fallen world.

Oh @slowwalker that colour! The teal/turquoise colour in your first photos is wonderful. To see it amidst the dark faded wood tones with touches of red is so magnificent. I wonder how glaringly brigh this was when the temple was new? it's like seeing all the old classical white statues of Greece and Rome and then realizing in their 'new' state they were awash with bright even garish colour. The world was much brighter in temples, public places, places of worship in the ancient times and how this must have sent the common person into a place of awe and joy when they stepped out of their more drab lives at home into such places rich with colour. Though I suppose many also had colour in their homes, but probably not to the same scale as the public places.
