I have some thoughts with on chain governance vs no governance at all in practice with dapps cryptocurrency.

Ultimately we need on chain governance in the case of dapps capable cryptocurrency. Having a layer one solution that is full decentralized is completely pointless to people who only use the coin for the dapp in the first place. Its irrelevant to someone using the coin only to use that dapp. If you have no governance at all then all control will simply fall into the hands of the dapps developers. And in this case the decentrality of layer one gains me absolutely nothing as I am now walking fully into a completely centralized dapp environment anyway.

At least in the case of on chain governance I have something to gain from that environment as someone who gives fuck all about how decentralized layer one of the coin actually is. If I don't use layer one because the only reason I use the dapp then I don't fucking care about layer one. In the case of a dapps environment I would rather have someone other than JUST the dapps developer be able to have some say in what is going on. Too me that ends up being more decentralized in practice as its a form of checks and balances.

If you want a fully decentralized coin simply buy a non dapps coin. Like Monero for example.
