First of all I wanna say thanks to the new Marketing & Community Team on Steemit. They have one of the toughest jobs at the moment in this community full with tech savvy people that all know what is best for the community. Having worked in sales, marketing and PR since 20 years I know this is a very tough job - especially in the start-up scene.

## Community support reacts fast!

For a community the support area is one of the most important aspects to keep users happy and also to attract new ones. This is a segment Steemit had nothing to offer before HF18 at all - thanks to @andrarchy this has changed. And the reaction speed is excellent - reach them on Steemit.chat via their Steemit names. They will talk to all of us!

## Example: Claim Reward Question

Yesterday I sent @andrarchy a message there as I did not understand the reason why we need to claim our rewards: *Hey Sir, hope you help - I am still not sure why we have to claim our rewards. Do they expire if we don't?*

#### Feedback within 3 minutes:
*Absolutely not. They will remain there for eternity. The change is for security and scaling purposes. It was done so that we can implement FABRIC. It can be automated, but we'll see how the users feel about that going forward. Short answer, this used to be automatic, now it's not, that's because of FABRIC. But the rewards are still yours and allocated to you specifically. They're just not deposited in your wallet because that now requires the inputting of your key. I'm sure people will also want to know that only funds IN your wallet gather interest. So you'll have to claim your rewards before they can earn interest.*

Nice post. Some see the marketing effort as 'underwhelming' so far. The more I learn about it, the more excited I am for what we can accomplish for Steem and Steemit. This is the right path forward. We're going to get a ton of new users in the coming months.

Yes, in this phase it would be probably useful to have a PR person, who would answer all the questions that FAQ does not cover, and listen to suggestions for the improvement of the system. And BTW, Steemit has got it's first mention at Max Keiser Show as a “very interesting new platform”. I've just put a post on that:

With the exception of a couple videos posted on Steemit I have not seen any indication of marketing outside of the platform, but I'm a patient woman. I hope they will have some announcements tomorrow (Friday).
@andrarchy is a GEM and I'm so happy for him. I don't envy him the job. It's got to be like herding angry cats when we have so many questions. LOL
I am glad to know the answer behind the claim button. I don't mind it but I would like to know what happened to the author rewards.

That's an important message, Uwe! Thank you very much. There have been some negative voices lately showing much impatience and - in my opinion - unfair criticism. It's good to remind us of how much efforts, passion and heart these guys are investing every day to make this place even greater.

Sure! It will be interesting to see how they gonna manage to bundle the interests of a whole community. Since they decided to focus on crowdsourcing, this will be an essential point. It´s a brilliant idea to involve us, but as we know from the past our ideas and opinion about steemit´s direction are quite diverse...:) It´ll be still exciting!

I still don't get it. Sounds like blah blah blah blah to me, but I love the platform and will keep steeming and blogging, I just can't explain it to anyone when they ask me questions so it is even harder to attract anyone to Steemit now from my perspective.

I mean I no longer understand what to say to people when they ask me what Steemit is and how it works. I don't understand the changes since the last hard fork and how it is going to benefit the platform. I don't understand the marketing at all and why we would even try to market it when we have such a retention problem.  I have stopped engaging in discussions about changes because my input seems to have no effect on what the next move or change on Steemit will be. So, I stopped trying to get people to join. 

Instead of getting frustrated, I just keep blogging and let go of the idea of promoting the platform. I don't feel right promoting something I can't explain or understand. I just know that Steemit is cool and I like to blog so I Steem on.

But when I read posts about changes the platform is making to simplify Steemit (KISS) that I don't understand or can't explain, it just makes me laugh because if I can't get my head around the changes my less technical friends are certainly going to get lost and lose interest in it. 

I'm not a developer and don't understand the logic of all these recent changes so I trust those that are know what they are doing, but there is nothing simpler about it. Until how Steemit works is so intuitive that we don't need to explain it, I don't see the point of reaching out to more users just to watch them bounce.
